ENVIRONMENTAL FACTS:

The site where the Verdura Golf and Spa Resort now resides would have previously been described as a monoculture of plant material dominated by artificially irrigated fruit trees on top of barren soil and weeds. Today the same site tells a story of Biodiversity Creation with over 35HA, approximately 25% of the total site devoted to various environmentally sensitive areas made up of Wetlands, Naturalized and Native Non-Irrigated plants and grasses as well as large areas ideal for wildlife habitat that did not previously exist.

Native landscaping – Over 40 different species of native shrubs, trees, and grasses have been established in an area measuring over 130,000 m².

Wetland Areas and Surrounds – This area encompasses approximately 70,000 m² and includes naturalized wetlands and surrounding areas of native plants and grasses that naturally filter any water from adjacent turfgrass areas and provide wildlife habitat.

Cultural Orchards – Over 14 Hectares have been planted as Olive or Orange Tree Orchards which reflect the local history of agriculture.
